March News!
MARCH 2010
NO SCHOOL
There will be no school for students Monday, March 22nd – Friday, March 26th. This is Spring Break week for our District.
4-H CLASSES
The CSU Extension Office will be hosting 6 weeks of after school 4-H classes for our Heritage students who are in grades 1st-5th. The classes will be held once a week on Thursdays from 3:10-4:30 in the cafeteria beginning March the 4th. Registration is required, and will be held on March the 4th beginning at 3:10 in the cafeteria. Also needed are parent volunteers to assist with student projects during the classes. We welcome your participation in this event.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
Jump Rope for Heart took place on February the 8th-12th in PE classes. Our Heritage community raised $1,205. GREAT JOB EAGLES!
PROUD EAGLES
The Pueblo County Association for Family and Community Education sponsors a yearly Essay and Art Contest focusing on a Character Education topic. This year the focus was on Fairness. Our fourth grade students participated in this contest. We are PROUD that Heritage Elementary School had three 1st Place entries: Thea Rodriquez, Dominique Trujillo, Rachel Young, and one Honorable Mention: Kassidy Eaton. There were 400 entries total in this contest, with twenty-six 1st Place winners in all. What a great showing from our fourth grade class at Heritage! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!
CSAP TESTING
Please remember that students in grades 3rd-5th will be involved in the Colorado State Assessment testing the weeks of March 8th-March 19th. We appreciate your support in our effort to accurately demonstrate the academic level of each student based upon these test results. Making sure your child gets good rest and a healthy diet are great ways you can prepare them for this testing phase.

Please join us for our next PTSO meeting to be held on Tuesday, March 9th at 3:30 in the Media Center.
PRESCHOOL
There are two remaining application days this year being held at the Colorado State Fair grounds in the 4-H auditorium from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on March 5 and April 16.
Eagle News!
Eagle News
Heritage Elementary School incorporates a daily video news channel into our school day. Eagle news is a closed circuit television station that utilizes our telecenter technology to broadcast daily announcements, and other important happenings at our school.
Eagle News is a collaboration with the Heritage student council. Fourth and fifth grade officers and classroom representatives serve as anchors to broadcast the news. This program helps students to build confidence and become effective public speakers.
