February News!
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
This year is really moving right along. With the new year comes the realization of the pending Colorado State Test for 3rd-10th graders. Testing will begin with the 3rd grade Reading CSAP test on February the 17th and 18th. During the weeks of March 8th-19th the tests of 3rd grade Math, 4th grade Reading/Writing, and Math, and 5th grade Reading/Writing, Math, and Science will be given. We appreciate your support in helping your child understand the importance of giving full effort towards the completion of these state assessments. You are welcome to contact your child’s teacher for more information of how to prepare your child.
I would also like to report a change of plans for our Learning Links sessions. We have decided to involve our students and families in two different celebrations instead of a second Learning Link session. We will be hosting a “Celebration of Nations” in May, and a “Green Day Celebration Day” in April. Please keep watch for more information about these upcoming events from your child’s teacher. These two events will be Heritage Community celebrations. We will hope to see you here.
1st SEMESTER ASSEMBLIES
Heritage will be hosting assemblies for those students who will be receiving 1st semester recognition on Tuesday, February the 9th. Invitations to family members will be sent home with students that will be receiving an award. There will be academic and attendance awards given. 1st and 2nd grades will have their assembly at 9:30, and 3rd-5th grade assembly will begin at 10:30.
ART
Please make sure to visit the Starbucks at Regency for a very special treat. Heritage student artwork is being displayed at this location. You will be impressed and so very proud of our Eagles.
NO SCHOOL
There will be no school for students on Thursday, February the 4th. This is a Parent/Teacher Conference day. A conference must be held for every student, so please make certain to keep your scheduled conference. Also, there is a holiday for staff and students on Monday, February the 15th.
STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Heritage Elementary Student Government led the school in our most recent fundraiser of “Pennies for Patients.” This money will be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Thank you to all who supported this cause.
4-H CLASSES
The CSU Extension Office will be hosting 6 weeks of after school 4-H classes for our Heritage students who are in grades 1st-5th. The classes will be held once a week on Thursdays from 3:10-4:30 in the cafeteria beginning March the 4th. Registration is required. You will be receiving this registration form in the next few weeks. Also needed are parent volunteers to assist with student projects during the classes. We welcome your participation in this event.

Parties may be held in the classroom as scheduled by the teachers on Friday the 12th.

Please remember that this is a drop off zone only. You are not allowed to park and wait in this area, even if it is cold. If you want to park and let your child wait for a few minutes with you in the vehicle, you must pull into an appropriate parking space. Thank you.
SCHOOL BUS LOADING ZONE
Parents, the yellow curb area on Brown Ave. that is in front of the office is designated for school bus parking only. You are not ever to use this area to drop off and pick up children. We appreciate you using other areas to drop off and pick up children. We also appreciate it if you would please pass this message to other family members and friends who may deliver and retrieve your children from school.
